INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Handy Language Center, and Handy Language Center an online service (“The Service” or the “Website”) provided by Handy Language Center LLC (“Handy Language Center” or the “Company”). We offer you the ability to learn English through our online services and site functionality, as well as offline through downloads that may be available on the site (collectively, the “Service”).


We respect your privacy and want you to know what information we collect about you and what we do with that information. The following Privacy Policy was created to help you understand how the information you share with Handy Language Center will be used. This Privacy Policy applies to all information we collect about you.

Please be aware that Handy Language Center may contain hyperlinks to other Internet sites and from time to time these sites may share the Handy Language Center brand or the brand of one of our affiliates. Sites that are linked to The Service or carry the Handy Language Center branding may have Privacy Policies that differ from those of Handy Language Center.

3. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

3.1 Registration Information. You are not required to provide us with any personal information to access our website or to view the information we provide generally on our website. However, we may offer you the opportunity to register with us or join our mailing list.

Although you do not need to register to access our website, you do need to register and create an account with Handy Language Center (Handy Language Center Account) to use the Service. When you create your Handy Language Center account, you will be asked to provide certain personal information, including your first and last name, a user name (which may be your e-mail address), the country where you live, your telephone number and a password.


At other times, you may also be asked to provide us with additional information, such as your age, gender, and other personal information, in order for you to receive additional information about our services.

In addition, prior to using The Service, you may be asked to provide a credit card or other payment method, and the address where your credit card or payment method statements are sent to you. If you authorize us to do so, we will retain this information in our database to facilitate the processing of future transactions, all in accordance with regulations issued by the credit card associations.

As part of the process to create an account with Handy Language Center or participate in certain promotions offered by Handy Language Center, such as sweepstakes, contests, surveys, newsletters, etc., in addition to your name and e-mail address, you may be asked to share certain information regarding your education and shopping preferences, among other things. Handy Language Center may need this information to get to know you better, help you understand new services, programs and offers in which you may be interested, and to enhance your online experience.

3.2 Automatic Data Collection. You may visit our website and use some of our services anonymously. Whether or not you have registered with us, Handy Language Center may collect certain personal information for the use of our services. For example, Handy Language Center may collect information regarding the type of Internet browser you use, the type of computer or operating system you use, your IP address, your connection speed, the domain name of your Internet service provider, the geographic location from which you are accessing our services and/or the web page or advertisement from which you linked to our website. When you use a mobile device (such as a tablet or smartphone) to access our service, we may access, collect, and store on your device and/or remotely store one or more “Device Identifiers” on your computer.

These Device Identifiers are small data files or logical data structures that are associated with or stored on your mobile device in order to uniquely identify your mobile device. Once you have registered with us, we also track and collect information about you including your transactions with us, our affiliates, or others, and the patterns you followed in using our website, such as the pages of the site you visited, searches you conducted, and the time you spent on our site. If you choose to contact us, we may keep a record of your correspondence.

When you visit our website or click on any hyperlink that appears on it, or use one or more of our services, we may use an industry technology called “cookies” which stores certain information on your computer that will allow us to customize your experience to align it with your interests and preferences, or to simply facilitate your access when using our services. 3.4 Testimonials . Handy Language Center may publish customer testimonials on our websites, platforms and social media (“Website”) as well as in television advertising media (“TV”), which may contain personal information. Upon your acceptance of the Terms of Service that apply to the Service, you consent to Handy Language Center publishing on its Website and TV any testimonials or opinions from you, as well as your comments, name and any other representations you may send to us through the appropriate communication channels.

3.5 Information We Receive from Our Affiliates. Handy LanguageCenter may also provide personal information to third party or branded affiliate sites through which we provide access to our services (“Affiliated Networks”). When you register with us, the Affiliated Network from which you accessed us may provide us with your username and password for that Network. Some of those Affiliated Networks or other networks may share any other information you share with us. By using our services, you agree to allow us to receive and use any information, except credit card information you share with the Affiliated Networks, on the same terms as if you had shared it with us directly. Whether and to what extent an Affiliated Network shares your information with us will depend on your agreement with us and your individual or particular Privacy Policy.

4. WHAT WE DO WITH YOUR INFORMATION

4.1 In general, Handy Language Center may use information about you to provide and improve The Service. Handy Language Center may share this information with content service providers, affiliates and other entities on a non-personal basis for demographic studies and preferential information for users of the Service, or for other purposes. This information may include usage and demographic data, but will not include personal information (such as your email address).


4.2
As part of the Service, Handy Language Center may send you information about your progress in the form of video messages hosted on third party websites that may be viewed by third parties. Although these messages will not identify you by name or photograph, if you do not wish to receive these messages, you may ask us not to send them or post them on any third party site.

If you provide Handy Language Center with personal information, we will take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect this information.

Except as described in this Privacy Policy, Handy Language Center will not disclose, share, sell or rent personal information collected on our website to third parties for promotional use without your consent, unless it is for a specific program, for which you may ask us not to participate. If you request to receive information from our affiliates by selecting this option in the future, we may share your registration information and information about your transactions on our service with the studios and/or our affiliates. If you access our services through an affiliate version of our website that contains a notice announcing that such information will be shared with such affiliate, which will appear under the name of the affiliate website, any personal or non-personal information will be shared with such affiliate website. Any use of such information by Handy Language Center will be subject to this Privacy Policy, and any use of such information by an affiliate will be subject to this Privacy Policy and the affiliate’s Privacy Policy.

In the event that Handy Language Center sells or transfers part or all of its business and/or our assets to another organization, such as in a merger and acquisition transaction, or in the event of a bankruptcy, dissolution or liquidation, our customers’ personal information such as name and email address and any other information collected through our website or service, may be one of the items sold or transferred. The resulting purchaser, or the acquiring or acquiring company, will comply with the commitments made in this Privacy Policy. We do not share your credit card account information with affiliated networks or any other third parties, except to the credit card processing service described below.

4.4 To keep you informed about our services, we may send emails and announcements that are necessary for the administration of our website and The Service. We may also provide our users with the option to join our email list to receive additional information about our website, services and offerings, including those of Handy Language Center LLC, or its affiliates. In addition, we may, from time to time, allow you to opt-in to receive mailings from third parties with whom we have affiliated relationships. You will always have the ability to change your choices by logging into your Handy Language Center account. Each marketing email from Handy Language Center will include instructions on how to unsubscribe from the email list.

4.5 We work with third parties who provide services, which may include web site hosting, promotional delivery, order processing, credit card authorization, data analysis and other services of an administrative nature. Personal information, including financial information, may be shared with such third parties for the purpose of providing you with such services.

We endeavor to impose confidentiality obligations on such service providers. Also, Handy Language Center LLC, which owns Handy Language Center, may use your information under the terms of this Privacy Policy. In addition, we reserve the right to disclose personal information to third parties when we believe it is in good faith and required by law, to enforce our Terms of Service, to protect the rights, property or safety of Handy Language Center or the public, to respond to an emergency, or as otherwise provided in this Privacy Policy.

4.6 Upon termination or deactivation of your account, Handy Language Center, its affiliates, or its service providers may retain information associated with your profile information for a commercially reasonable period of time for backup, archival and/or audit purposes.

5. SECURITY
 

5.1 We use reasonable security methods to protect the data residing on our servers. However, no security system is impenetrable; because of this, we cannot guarantee the security of our servers. It is also possible that information you provide to us may be intercepted during data transmission.

5.2 Whenever you provide Handy Language Center with sensitive information (e.g., credit card numbers), Handy Language Center will take commercially reasonable measures to protect such information and establish a secure connection with our Web Browser. Handy Language Center employs an industry standard technology known as secure-socket-layer (“SSL”) to protect the transmission of payment information to the Web site. You can verify the security of your connection by looking at the address bar in your browser window. When you access an SSL-protected server, the first characters of the address will change from “http” to “https.”

5.3 Please help us with your cooperation. To help protect your Handy Language Center account information, please keep your password secure. Your password will be stored in our system in encrypted form because Handy Language Center knows that your privacy is very important. Handy Language Center will generate a link to create your new password in case you forget it, and send it to your email address.
This will not affect your profile in any way. We suggest that you choose a non-obvious password that contains both numbers and letters. Also, we recommend that you do not share your password with anyone. Ultimately, you are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your Handy Language Center password and account information.

5.4 Remember to sign out or log out of your Handy Language Center course, and to close your browser each time you finish using your computer. This measure is to ensure that others cannot access your personal information, as your computer may be accessible to others or used in a shared manner.


5.5 Handy Language Center’s Privacy Policy does not extend to anything inherent in the operation of the Internet, therefore it does not extend to anything beyond Handy Language Center’s control, and will not be applied in any manner contrary to law or government regulations.

6. TALK TO OUR TEACHERS

During the term of the Course you will have the opportunity to interact with academic advisors (the “Teachers”) during live online classes (no image, only audio) who will participate in sessions, games and activities through a virtual classroom and chat system.


Eventually, the Teachers may employ moderation techniques during the live session and/or warn users about the use of inappropriate words in their communication style. We caution and recommend that children using the interactive features of our websites and applications on our platforms never provide personal information about themselves, either through themselves or third parties, and never to attempt to circumvent any filters or moderation restrictions we may have on our websites and platforms.

It is also recommended that you as the child’s parent or legal guardian carefully supervise your children while they are participating in the activities associated with the Course.

 
7. CHILDREN

 

7.1 In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and its subsequent amendments, we will not request personal information from anyone under the age of thirteen (13) without parental consent. Any person who provides us with such information represents that he or she is 13 years of age or older. Handy Language Center does not collect or solicit any information from anyone under the age of 13 nor does it permit such persons to register for the Service.

7.2 The Course activities do not require children to provide any personal information and therefore, neither are their parents or legal guardians required to do so. However, in connection with certain Course activities or services, we may collect a child’s online contact information, such as an email address, for purposes of communicating with the child more than once during the term of the Course.

For these purposes, children may be exposed to more than one communication with the Company, and parents or legal guardians may receive copies of these communications and to stop receiving them they would have to “opt-out” of each individual communication.

8. COPPA

 

8.1 In accordance with COPPA requirements, on any site or application directed to children, or in any case where we inquire about the age of our users and determine that the child is 12 years old or younger, we will need to ask the parent or legal guardian for consent via email before collecting any personal information from the child.

If you believe your child is participating in an activity that collects personal information and you as the parent and/or legal guardian have not received an email from the Company notifying you of the request for your consent, please feel free to contact us at [contact@handylanguagec.com].

Where we require your consent for these COPPA purposes, we will not send you promotional information unless you have given us your consent or you have engaged in a separate activity that allows us to send promotional information to your email address.


8.2
At any time, parents may revoke consent to allow us to collect further personal information from their children in connection with a particular user account or services administered by the Company. Similarly, they may request that we delete from our records the personal information we have collected in connection with the account associated with the Course. 

Please note that a request to delete data records may result in the termination of an account, license, or other service administered by the Company.

8.3 In any notification to the Company, such as e-mail or postal mail, please include the child’s user name and parent’s e-mail address and phone number. To protect the privacy and security of children, we will take reasonable steps to verify the identity of parents and/or legal guardians before granting access to any personal information.

 

9. THIRD PARTY ADVERTISERS

 

9.1 Handy Language Center may allow other companies, called ad servers or ad networks, to serve ads from within The Service. These third parties use technology to deliver, directly to your Browser, the advertisements and hyperlinks that appear on The Service. In these cases, they automatically receive your IP address. They may also use other technologies (such as “cookies,” JavaScript, or Internet “beacons”) to measure the effectiveness of their advertisements and to personalize them.


9.2
Handy Language Center does not provide any personal information to these third parties without your consent, unless it is for a specific program in which you may ask us to participate. Please note, however, that if an advertiser asks Handy Language Center to serve an advertisement to a specific audience or segment of the audience, and you respond to that advertisement, the advertiser may conclude that you fit the description of the audience it wants to reach.

You should consult the privacy policies of these third parties. Handy Language Center’s privacy policy does not apply to, nor can we control the activities of, these third party advertisers or other sites on the Internet. 

 

10. LINKS TO OTHER NETWORKS

 

10.1 Links to other networks are an integral part of the functionality of the Internet, including our website. Any hyperlink that has a URL from a domain other than www.handylanguagec.com in the address bar of your Browser is a hyperlink to a page outside of our service.

This includes hyperlinks to our content providers on the service, affiliates, or hyperlinks to third parties that may be linked to Handy Language Center. These other networks may send their cookies to you, collect data or solicit personal information. Handy Language Center cannot guarantee and is not responsible for the content of other networks or sites.

Please be aware that whenever you provide personal information to other networks or sites (e.g., via message or chat), that information may be collected and/or used by people you do not know.

While Handy Language Center strives to protect our visitors, their personal information, and their privacy, we cannot guarantee the security or privacy of any information you disclose to other websites, and you do so at your own risk. The Service is hosted on servers located in the United States of America, and is intended primarily for users domiciled in the Americas. If you access the Service from the European Union (EU), Asia or any other region with laws governing the collection, use or disclosure of personal information other than U.S. law, please note that you are transferring your personal data to the United States of America, where data protection laws are not the same as in the EU or other regions, and in the act of providing us with your data you are consenting to:

13. INVITING YOUR FRIENDS

 

If you choose to invite your friends to visit the Handy Language Center Web site, or to participate in contests and promotions, we will ask you to provide us with your friend’s name, e-mail address and country. Handy Language Center will then send your friend an electronic message inviting him or her to visit the Handy Language Center Web site and/or enter any contests or promotions that may be offered.
